Teddy Swims

Teddy Swims – The King of Cover

Teddy Swims, is an amazing singer and songwriter from Atlanta, GA.
His real name is Jaten Dimsdale and he is (if it maters) the grandson of a Pentecostal pastor.

I’ve discovered Teddy through a YouTube suggestion based on my previous music consumption. For once, this suggestion struck the right place at the right time.

If you give Teddy Swims 5 minutes, you can either rediscover an amazing song performed as an exceptional cover or hear an absolute original with a crazy good interpretation. Either way is a breath of fresh air.

In the spring of 2019 Teddy went on his first tour in the US, as a… wait for it… as a hip-hop artist. During the tour, together with his best friend Addy Maxwell, Teddy got to experiment new genres and here we are, witnessing a star finding its way. In my humble opinion, Teddy is the king of cover. From Amy Winehouse to Mario, from Vanessa Carlton to Michael Jackson to Billie Eilish and Marvin Gaye, Teddy delivers above expectations. His original work, for now, is far too new for me to properly understand and appreciate. But who knows? In time, I might learn to love it as I do love the covers.

I’ll let you now with one of my favourites – Tennessee Whiskey.
